Hello!

My name is Bailey. I’m a recent graduate of Wheaton College (MA) and have been awarded a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship in Panama City, Panama!  I hope to use this blog as a means to share stories and interesting tid bits about my 10-month journey.

Although originally accepted and scheduled to begin teaching on September 8th, 2014 in Mérida, Venezuela… life had a way of keeping me on my toes. Due to visa complications, I was not able to carry out my Fulbright in Venezuela, but was (thankfully) reassigned to Panama City. I now start my journey in March 2015. In case you’re wondering about the title of my blog, “qué xopa,” it’s panamenian slang for wassup.

I would like to make clear that this is not a political blog, rather one that I hope will be an informative resource for friends and family, and perhaps one day for new grantees looking to learn more about what will be expected of them during their Fulbright ETA.

Lastly, please note that the views and information presented in this blog are my own and do not represent the Fulbright Program or the US Department of State.

  1. Hi Bailey. I just offered an English fellowship at UDELAS. I’m from Milwaukee, WI. Would you recommend Panama and UDELAS? Thanks!

    • Hi Christine, Congratulations! Yes, UDELAS and Panama overall made for a great experience. I’d be happy to chat with you about it! I’m currently serving with the Peace Corps in Paraguay (so my wifi can be a bit spotty), but shoot me an email at baileymcw@gmail.com and we can work something out
